The primary trailer for Maria, Pablo Larraín’s biopic starring Angelina Jolie as opera legend Maria Callas, has been launched by Netflix, providing a glimpse into Jolie’s gorgeous transformation. The movie, which premiered on the Venice Movie Competition to an eight-minute standing ovation, is already producing Oscar buzz, positioning Jolie as a robust contender for Greatest Actress.
Maria chronicles the lifetime of the American-born Greek soprano, who tragically died at 53, and guarantees to discover key moments in her extraordinary profession. The movie’s forged consists of Valeria Golino, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Pierfrancesco Favino, amongst others.
Directed by Pablo Larraín and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the movie follows within the footsteps of Larraín’s critically acclaimed Spencer, which earned Kristen Stewart an Oscar nomination.
