My workplace in Beauchamp Place in London – it’s retained its townhouse really feel.

Snowboarding within the Fifties in Germany’s Harz mountains. There have been uniformed Russian troopers on skis patrolling the border.
FAVOURITE TRAVELLING COMPANION?
Any of the next authors: Mark Twain, Alan Coren, Douglas Adams, Jan Morris or Martha Gelhorn.
MOST BEAUTIFUL BUILDING?
The Mezquita de Cordoba (the Nice Mosque of Cordoba). It’s well-known for its large candy-cane arches and forest of greater than 850 columns.
FAVOURITE SHOPPING CITY?
Istanbul — for the rugs, myriad treats and markets.
WHAT’S THE WICKEDEST THING YOU’VE DONE ON HOLIDAY?
I used to be stopped at customs at Ho Chi Minh airport and arrested for taking pottery in a foreign country. Fortunately — having handed it again to an area official — a full aircraft, together with me, was capable of take off.
EVER HAD A HOLIDAY DISASTER?
We went on a seven-day vacation to Mauritius and needed to keep indoors for the complete time as a consequence of a hurricane. On searching of the window at what would have been a tropical view, we noticed solely swimming swimming pools crammed with chairs.
