Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar had been two of essentially the most influential writers of the Seventies. The duo, who was recognised for penning hit films like Sholay, Deewar and Zanjeer, parted methods in 1982. In an unique interview with NDTV, Salim Khan proudly mentioned, “Abhi bhi agar vaapis ayega Salim-Javed to uska worth hoga. [If Salim-Javed were to come back now, it would still be valuable.]” When requested if they’re planning on writing one other movie collectively, Salim Khan replied, “Banane ka iraada hai. [We have plans to make it.]” He added, “Comeback, coming quickly.”
Throughout the identical chat, Salim Khan recalled his break up with Javed Akhtar. He mentioned, “Jab unhone mujhse kaha ki mei alag (movies) banana chahta huun, maine kaha thik hai, koi dikkat nahi. Kisiko zabardasti rok nahi sakte. Mujhe toh abhi bhi nahi malum kyun alag hue. Ho gaya toh ho gaya. [When he informed me that he wanted to work separately, I said okay, no problem. You can’t force someone to stay. Even now, I don’t know why we separated. It just happened.]”
Salim Khan added, “Kyun alag hue yeh bhi kisiko pith piche nahi bataye, uska zikar hello nahi kiya. Milna-julna thha, baat karte thhe, unke ghar ke samne se hello nikalta thha mai, roz stroll karta thha, hath hilata tha woh bhi haath hilate thhe. Joh rishta hai joh dosti hai woh thha. [Why we separated, we didn’t tell anyone, or spoke behind each other’s backs, or even mentioned it. We used to meet, talk, and I would pass by his house every day. While walking, I would wave, and he would wave back. The friendship is still there.]”
Indignant Younger Males, the title of the documentary collection, alludes to the offended younger man archetype that emerged within the Seventies and helped pave the way in which for Amitabh Bachchan’s rise to fame in films.
The collection is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Leisure, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Tiger Child Movies, and Salman Khan’s Salman Khan Movies. It’s directed by Namrata Rao, who is understood for her modifying work on movies like Oye Fortunate! Fortunate Oye!, Ishqiya, Band Baaja Baaraat, and Kahaani.
