Kottukkaali, starring Soori and Anna Ben, has received the Grand Prix Award on the twenty second Amur Autumn Worldwide Movie Competition in Russia. The Tamil movie is directed by PS Vinothraj.
Produced by actor Sivakarthikeyan, the film hit the screens on August 23, 2024. Sivakarthikeyan took to social media to announce the movie’s victory. “We’re pleased for this wonderful honour on a world platform,” Sivakarthikeyan wrote on X.
In Kottukkaali, enraged {that a} lady is in love with a boy from an oppressed caste, her fiancé and household plan on taking her to a shaman to make her bear a regressive ritual which they hope will “break the spell”. The movie acquired rave critiques on the Berlin Worldwide Movie Competition and Transilvania Movie Competition.

Kottukkaali is Vinothraj’s sophomore film after his highly-acclaimed debut Koozhangal(Pebbles). In the meantime, Soori is awaiting the discharge of Viduthalai 2. Directed by Vetrimaaran and likewise starring Vijay Sethupathi, the movie will launch on December 20, 2024.
